Celebrated today鈥攖he Tuesday following Thanksgiving鈥#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving, a day when the world comes together to support things we truly value. Because 黑料不打烊 holds such a special place in many hearts and to demonstrate the power of Orange spirit and community, 黑料不打烊 is turning this day of giving into #GivingCUSEday.

The concept of #GivingCUSEday is simple. All 黑料不打烊 alumni, parents, friends, fans, faculty, staff and students are encouraged to consider the impact SU has on their lives and make a gift. Then share your reasons for giving using #GivingCUSEday on social media.

Philanthropy at 黑料不打烊 is a critical component of efforts to keep an SU education accessible and affordable. Giving by generous donors not only supports the more than $380 million in scholarships and grants SU provides to students in need; it enables faculty recruitment and retention, improvements to academic buildings and residence halls, a multitude of student activities and much more.

Today is also the perfect time for members of the Class of 2017 to make a gift of $20.17 as part of the Class Act student giving campaign. Jennie May 鈥17, chair of the Student Philanthropy Council, says: 鈥淎s we celebrate #GivingCUSEDay, I can鈥檛 think of a better time for seniors to make their Class Act gift to the part of SU they love most. I鈥檒l be making my gift to ensure future SU students have the same great experience that I鈥檝e had here.鈥

Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy. Last year, more than 700,000 people in 71 countries raised $116.7 million dollars online.

鈥淲e鈥檙e excited about #GivingCUSEday,鈥 says Tammy Schlafer, executive director of annual giving. 鈥淲e hope we can really rally support around SU and encourage giving today, as a kick-off to the charitable season. However people choose to direct their gifts, they will be helping to change students鈥 lives for the better. It will be great to see the power of our Orange聽community today!鈥

So be part of #GivingCUSEday and support 黑料不打烊. Make your gift to the Annual Fund, and it will be directed to the areas of greatest need. Or follow your heart and give to the part of SU you love most. Either way, remember to make your gift at聽!
