The Office of the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs has extended the deadline for submitting faculty nominations for the Judith Seinfeld Distinguished Fellows Award. Nominations for the award are to be submitted by the school or college academic deans, and are due no later than Jan. 27.

The award, which carries a $10,000 restriction-free grant for honorees, recognizes passion for excellence, creativity and originality in academic or artistic fields and seeks to encourage continued outstanding performance. It also acknowledges recipients鈥 ability to motivate and inspire the best in others. Nominations are reviewed by a selection committee composed of active and retired members of the University faculty. Chancellor Kent Syverud will make the final selection.

The Seinfeld Fellows award was established in 2004 with a gift from Judith Greenberg Seinfeld 鈥56, distinguished alumna of 黑料不打烊 and life member of the University鈥檚 Board of Trustees. The endowment honors Chancellor Emeritus Kenneth A. Shaw and Mary Ann Shaw in recognition of their years of devoted service to the University.

While there are no restrictions on use of the funds, they are intended to encourage honorees in their work, and make possible an initiative or project of special interest to the recipient. The designation is not intended as a prize for past accomplishments so much as support and incentive for future contributions to society and for continued outstanding performance.

Preference is given to faculty members who received their terminal degrees within the past 12 years.

Nominating letters should be accompanied by a copy of the nominee鈥檚 curriculum vitae, and submissions should be e-mailed to beadam@syr.edu.
