As the ϲ men’s basketball team heads to Brooklyn for the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Tournament, March 7-11, the SU Alumni Association is hosting a variety of exciting programming off the court. These “Orange in the City” events—from professional development and networking to a live concert and an informative panel discussion on analytics and data—will appeal to the entire Orange community.
The weeklong celebration is open to anyone who loves the Orange, including alumni, parents, friends and fans.

“‘Orange in the City’ is a week that will celebrate all things Orange,” says Pam Mulligan ’89, executive director of alumni engagement for the metropolitan NYC area.
The festivities kick off Monday, March 6, at 6:30 p.m. with a festive bash at the upscale Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers. There will be live music from Sophistafunk, featuring Jack Brown ’07 and Adam Gold ’06, as well as a photo booth and Otto the Orange. The event is $25 per person and includes beer, wine and a specialty “Go Orange!” cocktail, along with food and the entertainment. Attendees must be 21 years of age or older.
Programming continues Thursday, March 9, with an analytics power breakfast from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the University’s Fisher Center. The panel discussion will feature SU analytics expert , professor of sport management in the Falk College; , the Rhonda S. Falk Endowed Professor and director and chair of the Department of Sport Management; and ’95, associate professor of practice in the School of Information Studies. Moderator is Josh Frost ’08 from Major League Baseball Advanced Media. Cost is $10 per person and includes breakfast.
“Orange in the City” also sees the debut of the University’s newest alumni group, in Westchester and Southern Connecticut. Participants are invited to a meet-and-greet and networking reception on Thursday, March 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Rye Grille & Bar, 1 Station Plaza, Rye, N.Y. Cost is $10 per person and includes drinks and hors d’oeuvres.
Several local alumni clubs–Northern New Jersey, Central New Jersey, Big Apple Orange and Whitman NYC–will offer Orange Advantage professional development events during “Orange in the City.” Attendees can receive one-on-one career counseling and resume feedback, and work on their interviewing skills with Jenna Turman, assistant director of alumni programs in .
The Northern New Jersey event starts Thursday, March 9, at 8 a.m. at the Eppes Essen Deli & Restaurant, 105 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., Livingston, N.J. Cost is $10 and includes breakfast.
The Central New Jersey event starts Thursday, March 9, at 5:30 p.m. at the Salt Creek Grille, 1 Rockingham Row, Princeton, N.J. Cost is $10 and includes drinks and hors d’oeuvres.
The Big Apple Orange and Whitman NYC event starts Friday, March 10, at 5:30 p.m. at Lubin House, 11 E. 61st St., Manhattan. Cost is $10 and includes drinks and hors d’oeuvres.
Participants at the Northern New Jersey, Central New Jersey and Big Apple Orange/Whitman NYC events will enjoy the True Colors program, which focuses on your personality and how you interact with others in the workplace.
Additionally, (in partnership with the ) will experience the Orange Advantage with a lunch and panel discussion Friday, March 10, at noon at Lubin House. Cost is $10. Rosann Santos ’94 and Shemeka Brathwaite ’04 will lead an engaging discussion on the job search challenges and opportunities unique to African-American and Latino communities.
Career Services will also offer one-on-one career counseling and resume review sessions Saturday, March 11, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lubin House, and Monday, March 13, from 9 to 11 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the Fisher Center. These sessions are free to attend, with advance registration required.
