Five Students Awarded Foundations Scholarship for Spring 2018

is a workshop series that introduces 黑料不打烊 students to essential life-skills. It is a collaborative effort between many 黑料不打烊 departments and schools, including , , , and .

The Spring 2018 Foundations Workshop Series included:

  • Leadership with Mark H. Trumbo, student-athlete engagement coordinator, Athletics
  • Resilience with Kristelle Aisaka, Office of Health Promotion
  • Career Development with Erin Miller 鈥16, co-founder and CAPCOM for Out There Productions; innovation and immersion recruiter for the iSchool
  • Food as Medicine with Veronica Tearney, sports performance specialist, Athletics; and Rachel Gregg, Pharm D., CSCS
  • A Comedic Guide to Money with Colin Ryan, comedic speaker, financial educator, and author
  • Community Engagement with a Purpose with the Rev. Brian E. Konkol, dean of Hendricks Chapel
  • Information Literacy with Jeffrey Rubin, president and CEO, SIDEARM Sports

While this series is open to all students, undergraduate students who attend all sessions can enter to win a $1,000 Foundations Scholarship by submitting an essay, video/vlog or a digital portfolio of what they learned.

On Monday, March 26, from 7-8 p.m. in 500 Hall of Languages, at the Foundations Celebration the scholarships were awarded to:

  • Desjah Altvater 鈥21, Visual Performing Arts
  • Hayley Barbara Bermel 鈥19, Arts and Sciences and the Maxwell School
  • Jordan Christian Nuber 鈥20, Arts and Sciences and the Maxwell School
  • Mary A Mik 鈥19, Sport and Human Dynamics
  • Christian Andino Borrero, 鈥21 Arts and Sciences

鈥淚 am so grateful to all the departments and staff who came together to create this unique program for our students.聽The student feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and we are excited to continue the growth of Foundations,鈥 says Trumbo, one of the co-organizers of the series.

If you are interested in participating or presenting as a Foundations partner, please email Trumbo with a description of your topic and session, along with at least three desired outcomes from your presentation. All submissions will be reviewed and determined via committee.
