Facebook leadership has been under fire, as a data breach allowed millions of users’ private data to be exposed. The social media giant has since updated its privacy setting to boost future protection, but Newhouse assistant professor of communications and social media expert, Jennifer Grygiel, says this move should have been done long ago.

She told AFP that these changes “are so obviously important to users that one has to wonder why this wasn’t already done,” while also adding that Facebook has “some of the best talent in the industry” and that “their old interface was not a mistake, it was by design.”
