Poet and School of Education professor recently joined Atlanta鈥檚 WABE radio station to discuss his new memoir, . The work details his encounter with his first seeing eye dog Corky, who he got after depleting eyesight left him blind at age 38.

鈥淭hey paired me with this brilliant dog, who was infinitely wiser than any other dog I had ever met,鈥� he said of his first meeting with Corky. 鈥淭hey asked me to spend a couple of days with her before we even began the guide dog stuff, and I realized that she was delightful, playful, curious, silly, but in wonderfully intelligent ways.鈥�
