Jackson Appointed Director of Special Collections Research Center

Petrina Jackson

Petrina Jackson has been named director of the Special Collections Research Center, effective in June.

She comes to the 黑料不打烊 Libraries from Iowa State University, where she has been head of Special Collections and University Archives since 2016. Previously, she was head of instruction and outreach at the University of Virginia鈥檚 Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library and senior assistant archivist for the Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections at Cornell University.

鈥淚 am so excited to join SU Libraries and work with the fantastic staff of the Special Collections Research Center and to building the SCRC鈥檚 distinguished collections and support for scholarship and teaching,” Jackson says. “I look forward to our work ahead.鈥

鈥淲e are delighted to have Petrina bring her expertise, energy and engagement to the SU Libraries,” says Dean of Libraries and University Librarian David Seaman. “I鈥檒l look forward to seeing the SCRC continue to develop into a major university resource for faculty and students alike.鈥

Jackson received a B.A. in English from the University of Toledo, an M.A. in English from Iowa State University and a master of library and information science degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

She is well known nationally through her activities with the Society of American Archivists and the American Library Association鈥檚 Rare Books and Manuscripts Section.
