, distinguished professor emeritus of political science in the Maxwell School, was quoted by The New York Times for the opinion piece titled “” Stonecash, an expert on political parties and contemporary politics, says that during this presidential election society should be asking “about what values and ideas are driving polarization and which groups embrace some ideas rather than others.” Stonecash says that America is divided  over the question of  “who is a ‘real American,’ who is deserving and whose lives and beliefs should be honored,” and that the election has only highlighted this division.
