Due to the continued impact that COVID-19 is having on college-bound students and their families, the University is extending its and will not require SAT or ACT scores for the 2021-2022 application cycle.
鈥淲e recognize the extensive disruption that the pandemic continues to have on students going through the college admissions process,鈥 says Maurice A. Harris, dean of Admissions. 鈥淭est date cancellations and limited capacity make it difficult for students to access SAT and ACT test opportunities. By continuing to make the submission of scores optional, we hope to alleviate some stress for applicants.鈥
Details surrounding the test optional policy remain the same as in the 2020-2021 application cycle, including the fact that students who are unable to submit standardized test results, or who choose not to, will not be disadvantaged, Harris says. 鈥淪tandardized test scores have always been just one component of our holistic review process. Now, we will place greater emphasis on other application聽credentials, including academic performance, the rigor of coursework and extracurricular engagement.鈥 Students who do not submit test scores will also remain eligible for merit scholarships.
