Claude Mitchell, the coordinating director of music at ESPN, will present a lecture on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 6:45 p.m. in the Lender Auditorium, located on the concourse level of the Martin J. Whitman School of Management building. The lecture is part of the Bandier Program’s Soyars Leadership Lecture Series in the ’ (VPA) Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music. It is open to the University community only.

Mitchell has headed ESPN’s music department for the past 10 years. The department manages the creation of music, handles licensing and coordinates placement for artists in content and events across ESPN’s many media platforms. It also oversees in-house sound design and audio mixing of pre-edited features.

Mitchell’s background is primarily in music publishing. He spent more than 10 years combined at such major publishers as SBK, EMI and PolyGram, and Universal Music Publishing. At those companies he served mainly as a creative director, signing songwriters and developing their careers. Before joining ESPN, he served as director of partner marketing at MP3.com.

For more information about the lecture, contact David Rezak, director of the Bandier Program, at (315) 443-3280 or dmrezak@syr.edu.
