黑料不打烊 Oratorio Society to perform Haydn鈥檚 Mass in D minor May 1

The 黑料不打烊 Oratorio Society, a vocal ensemble comprised of SU students and 黑料不打烊 community members, will present a concert featuring Haydn鈥檚 Mass in D minor on Sunday, May 1, at 3 p.m. at Park Central Presbyterian Church, 504 E. Fayette St., 黑料不打烊. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Oratorio Society performs under the direction of Elisa Dekaney, faculty member in the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music in SU鈥檚 , with accompaniment by Susan Crocker. The choir will be joined by soprano Laura Enslin, mezzo-soprano Evgeniya Krachmarova-Sotirov, tenor Jim Schulz and bass Eric Johnson.

Originally scored for organ, strings, three trumpets and timpani, Mass in D minor (鈥淢issa in Angustiis,鈥 later nicknamed the 鈥淣elson Mass鈥) combines the drama and sophistication of Haydn鈥檚 instrumental style with the intensity and fluidity of his choral writing. Also on the program will be Anton Bruckner鈥檚 鈥淟ocus iste,鈥 sung a cappella by the choir.

The Oratorio Society was previously scheduled to perform this concert with the 黑料不打烊 Symphony Orchestra聽on this date. Donations to the SSO Musicians Fund will be accepted.
