faculty member G. Thomas Lumpkin has been named co-editor of the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal (SEJ) by the Strategic Management Society (SMS). The announcement was made at the SMS annual meeting in Miami Beach, Fla.

lumpkinLumpkin, the Witting Chair of Entrepreneurship in the Department of Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises at the Whitman School, joins Jay Barney of the Max M. Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, Mike Wright of the Imperial College London Business School and Rajshree Agarwal of the College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as members of the editorial leadership group for the journal. Lumpkin previously served as an associate editor for the SEJ and a member of its editorial review board. He is a globally recognized scholar whose research interests include entrepreneurial orientation, social entrepreneurship, family business and strategy making processes.

“Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal is fast becoming one of the leading journals in the field of entrepreneurship. It is an honor to join its editorial team and be part of the ongoing effort to promote academic excellence and high quality entrepreneurship research,” says Lumpkin.

The SMS has for more than 25 years been involved with the publication of leading journals, vital tools for the benefit of researchers and practitioners in the field. Founded in 2007, the SEJ is published quarterly. The aim and scope of the journal notes that “Strategic entrepreneurship involves innovation and subsequent changes, which add value to society and … lead to improved practice of managing organizations as they deal with the entrepreneurial process involving imagination, insight, invention and innovation and the inevitable changes and transformations that result and benefit society.”

According to the journal’s publisher, Wiley-Blackwell, the SEJ has been adopted by more libraries than any other journal published by Wiley-Blackwell in the last 10 years. The journal is Social Science Citation Index-listed, with a recent impact factor (Nov. 2011) of 2.026, according to Journal Citation Reports published by ISI Web of Knowledge.
