Ten seniors named VPA Scholars

The (VPA) has announced that 10 seniors have been named VPA Scholars, the college’s highest undergraduate academic honor.

The VPA Scholars program was established to recognize the achievements of the college’s top seniors in art, design and transmedia; communication and rhetorical studies; drama; and music. Students are selected based on academic performance, creative/scholarly work and service to the college and the community. The scholars are recognized at VPA’s annual convocation ceremony, which will be held during SU’s Commencement Weekend on Saturday, May 12, at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.

The 2012 VPA Scholars are:

  • Joshua Barrow, a music education major in the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music;
  • John Cardone, a sculpture major in the School of Art and Design’s Department of Art;
  • Robert Dekker, a Bandier Program major in the Setnor School of Music;
  • Peter DePasquale, an art education major in the School of Art and Design’s Department of Art and the SU School of Education;
  • Aaron Gittleman, a Bandier Program major in the Setnor School of Music;
  • Adriana González-Vega, a film major in the School of Art and Design’s Department of Transmedia;
  • Evan Hutker, an industrial and interaction design major in the School of Art and Design’s Department of Design;
  • Marc Mason, a communication and rhetorical studies major in the Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies;
  • Michele Palotta, an interior design major in the School of Art and Design’s Department of Design; and 
  • Candice Radloff, a communication and rhetorical studies major in the Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies.
