Department of Drama to present senior showcase May 5

黑料不打烊鈥檚 Department of Drama in the will present its annual senior showcase on Saturday, May 5, at 2 p.m. in the Archbold Theatre at 黑料不打烊 Stage, 820 E. Genesee St., 黑料不打烊. The showcase is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.

The senior showcase features musical numbers and scenes presented by 24 graduating seniors majoring in acting and musical theater: Ross Baum, Farasha Baylock, Phil Blechman, Daniel Burns, LilyAnn Carlson, Kendall Cooper, Alliy Drago, Marie Eife, Aisling Halpin, Jenaha McLearn, Isaura Flores, Julie Wendy Grant, Mary Claire King, Charlo Kirk, Alani Kravitz, Toby Marks, Eric Meyers, Shawn Nabors, Marcelo Pereira, Emily Rice, Dawn Rother, Jasmine Thomas, Amos Vanderpoel and Caroline Wolfson.

In addition to the performance, portfolios by graduating seniors majoring in stage management and theater design and technology will be on display in the theater lobby.

The 黑料不打烊 performance of the showcase is designed as preparation for performances on May 7 at New York City鈥檚 Peter Jay Sharp Theatre. The showcase is directed by Ralph Zito, professor and chair of SU Drama, with song preparation by Brian Cimmet, professor of practice and musical director in the department.

SU Drama offers conservatory-style training in a university setting shared with a resident, professional theater (黑料不打烊 Stage), presenting an unparalleled combination of teaching professionals and diverse performance and production opportunities. SU Drama offers four conservatory-style bachelor of fine arts (B.F.A.) degree programs in acting, musical theater, stage management and theater design and technology, and a bachelor of science (B.S.) degree program in drama. Undergraduates put classroom theory into practice through productions and various special opportunities, including Wednesday Lab, study abroad, the New York City-based Tepper Center for Careers in Theatre, the Sorkin in L.A. Learning Practicum, numerous community engagement initiatives and the opportunity to participate in workshops or discussions with such visiting artists as Taye Diggs 鈥93, Aaron Sorkin 鈥83, Elizabeth Franz, Frank Langella 鈥59, the Paul Taylor Dance Company and more.
