Author to present 鈥楶roject Brainwash: Why Reality TV Is Bad for Women鈥�

Jennifer L. Pozner, author of 鈥淩eality Bites Back: The Troubling Truth about Guilty Pleasure TV鈥� (Seal Press, 2010), will speak Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. in Watson Theater on 鈥淧roject Brainwash: Why Reality TV Is Bad for Women.鈥� A reception and book signing will begin at 6 p.m.

Pozner is a media critic, author and founding director of Women In Media & News (WIMN), a media analysis, education and advocacy group. MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry says 鈥�’Reality Bites Back: The Troubling Truth About Guilty Pleasure TV,’鈥� is 鈥渞equired reading for every American girl and woman.鈥�

Pozner鈥檚 journalism appears in Newsweek, Ms., Bitch, Chicago Tribune, and Elle Canada, among many other outlets. She has served as an advisor and analyst for the award-winning OWN documentary 鈥淢iss Representation鈥� and offered media commentary on NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, HLN, MSNBC, Fox News and 鈥淭he Daily Show鈥� and wrote and starred in the satirical web series, 鈥淩eality Rehab with Dr. Jenn.鈥�

The lecture is cosponsored by The Writing Program in The College of Arts and Sciences, Cultural Foundations of Education in the School of Education, and Communication and Rhetorical Studies department in the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
