SU law school doubles donation to Food Bank of CNY

When the third-year law class issues a challenge, the listens.

Class of 2010 President Olivia Truong led the charge to help the area’s largest food bank meet the demand for meals this Thanksgiving. And in just one week, members of the first-year class senate collected more than 1,766 pounds of food from the law school community for the Food Bank of Central New York, more than doubling the 2008 bounty of 747 pounds of food. In addition, more than $750 was donated to the Food Bank from an October fundraiser.

The 1,766 pounds of food collected translates to more than 1,370 meals, which can feed about 340 families.

The Food Bank of Central New York is a not-for-profit organization working to eliminate hunger through distribution of nutritious food, education and advocacy in cooperation with the community.
