Panel Explores Pan Am 103 Legacy at SU

On Dec. 21, 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 was blown up en route from London’s Heathrow Airport to New York’s JFK. Among the 270 killed were 35 students studying abroad through ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. The effects of this tragedy were felt across campus and are still present today. Though heartache and grief were the initial impetus for many of the lasting changes Pan Am 103 wrought here at SU, what has emerged from this tragedy is a legacy of hope, understanding, and commitment to always moving forward.

“The Legacy of Pan Am 103 at SU,” a panel discussion, will be held on Friday, Oct. 4, from 3-4:30 p.m. in Watson Theater to discuss the legacy Pan Am 103 has created at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. The discussion will be moderated by Cara A. Howe G’10, G’12, assistant archivist for the Pan Am 103 Archive.
Panelists will include Frederick J. Carranti ’92 P.E., instructor in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science and former Remembrance Scholar; Edward L. Galvin, Archives director and Pan Am Flight 103 archivist; Kevin Morrow, executive director of external and public affairs; and Suzanne Shane, program director with SU Abroad.
