The FNSSI laboratory

The in will open its doors in February as it hosts one of two open houses aimed at educating prospective students about the institute’s programs and the various career paths in forensics.

The first of these events, which will begin in the Life Sciences building, is scheduled for Feb. 7. while the second is planned for March 31. Faculty, staff and students will be on hand to discuss program offerings, answer questions and provide guided tours of the facilities.

The agenda for the event Feb. 7 is as follows:

3-5 p.m.

• Guided tour of classrooms, laboratories and research facilities
• Demonstrations of blood pattern analysis and ballistics
• Up-close look at FNSSI’s state-of-the-art equipment

5-6 p.m.

• Refreshments hosted by institute faculty members prior to a brief overview presentation of the institute

6-8 p.m.

• Meet and greet and Q&A session with faculty, staff, graduate students and alumni

Forensic science is a rapidly growing field that incorporates a wealth of disciplines, from the natural and social sciences to engineering and law to the public humanities. In response to the increasing demand for academic opportunities in the industry, FNSSI offers a variety of programs for recent college graduates and mid-career professionals, including a M.S. in forensic science, a M.S. in biomedical forensic science, a M.S./J.D. in forensic and an advanced certificate in medicolegal death investigation, among others.
