The Community Folk Art Center invites the public to its annual Caribbean Cinematic Festival Feb. 5-8 for an exploration into Caribbean culture though film, dance, spoken word, discussion and food.
The four day festival opens on Wednesday, Feb. 5, with acclaimed actor and model Jimmy Jean-Louis, who is known for his role as The Haitian on the popular NBC television series “Heroes.” Over the course of the festival, post-screening discussions will take place with a variety of guests, including award-winning filmmaker Bruce Paddington, celebrated cinematographer Joshua Alafia, Miami-based curator Babacar M’bow, author Carole Boyce Davies and others. The event will also host performances from Jamaican spoken word artist and dub poet Ras Henry Howard and ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ dance troupe Kalabash. The schedule for the events is as follows:
