Whitman ‘Team Dream’ Seeks Votes in Price Waterhouse Coopers Challenge

They call themselves Team Dream, a formidable group of four students from the who have accepted the challenge. It’s a challenge that tests their communication and critical thinking skills. They’re quite capable. But they could use your help.

The students are taking part in the Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC) Challenge Tax Competition. Nearly 2,500 students are taking part nationwide, seeking cash prizes and something perhaps even more valuable: face time with tax professionals who can help make a career connection.

The teams were given a tax case to work on, and a deadline of two weeks to prepare a presentation as if they were on an actual PwC tax team. The tax case involves real-life issues that PwC clients face on a regular basis, and teams must come up with a solution. A panel of judges decided the top four teams. A fifth school is selected through a video contest run on PwC’s Facebook page. The finalists are invited to New York City to make their final presentations, which will determine who comes out on top.

“It benefits the students immensely,” says Professor of Accounting Practice Mitchell Franklin, “because it’s getting them in front of PwC. In the past nine years, three of my teams have reached the finals. In almost every case, every student has received a job or internship offer from PwC.”

Team Dream from Whitman is currently in second place in the vote count, so they could use a few more views and votes. You can view their video and cast a ballot . You can vote once per day until Friday, Nov. 21, at 11:59 p.m.
