The is hosting a daylong symposium examining current issues in sports and sports media on Wednesday, Feb. 25. “Sports Matters,” which will include a series of three panel discussions, will be held 10 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium in Newhouse 3. The event will open with welcoming remarks from Newhouse Dean Lorraine Branham, followed by the first panel, “Ethics in Sports Media: Is It OK to Lie?” Panelists include:
Beginning at 1:15 p.m., the second panel will address “Covering Domestic Violence Issues: Have Sports Media Done Enough?” Panelists include:
At 3 p.m., the third panel will explore “Sports Content and Message: Who Controls Them and How?” Panelists include:
A question-and-answer session will follow the panel presentations.
The event will conclude with a reception in the Food.com area on the second floor of Newhouse 3.
