ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ has invited the final candidates for the position of Department of Public Safety chief to interview on campus. Interested faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend an open forum where the candidates will be presenting briefly on their background and the importance of Community Policing in a Campus Environment. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback to the search committee. The Open Forums will be held with the following candidates on the dates that follow:

Robert Maldonado has been serving as the director of Campus Safety at Nazareth College since 2006. He has more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement to include the New York State Police (captain, Bureau of Criminal Investigations), the Rochester Police Department (deputy chief of operations), and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (jail bureau superintendent). He also serves as a part-time faculty member at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

At Nazareth College, he leads a staff who provide safety and security services to a campus population of approximately 3,500 students, facult, and staff. His duties include leadership and management of all employees providing patrol and investigative services, environmental health services, fire safety services, parking and transportation services, and physical security services. In his position he is involved with oversight of the Jeanne Clery Act, the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act and Title IX.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Cornell University and a master of arts degree in criminal justice from the State University of New York at Albany.

Michael Bailey has been serving as the chief of police for SUNY Purchase College since 2013. He has more than 20 years of experience in law enforcement to include the Utica Police Department (Deputy Chief of Administration), and Mohawk Valley Community College (Director of Police Pre-employment Training).

At SUNY Purchase College, he leads and manages the administrative and operational functions for the department, which serves 5,000 students, faculty, and staff community members. He serves as the Jeanne Clery Act Coordinator, is the co-chair of the campus Emergency Response Team and is a member of the Behavioral Intervention and Crisis Intervention teams.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Utica College, and a master of arts degree in strategic communication and leadership from Seton Hall University.
