The University will host its annual ’Cuse Career Week from Feb. 2-4. The career week features a variety of employers from different specializations, five separate career fairs, a reception for veterans, networking nights and various information sessions with employers.
Below is an overview of the week’s events:
ECS Engineering Career Connections Fair—Tuesday, Feb. 2, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., 304/Panasci Lounge, Schine
With more than 50 employers attending, this career fair serves as a useful tool for engineering and computer science students who are looking to network with professionals in their field and learn more about possible internships and employment opportunities. Employers attending include Deloitte Consulting, EY and IBM. This event is open to all students.
Whitman Career Fair—Tuesday, Feb. 2, 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., 304/Panasci Lounge, Schine
Any student who is interested in business, accounting, retail, management or communications is encouraged to attend this event. More than 50 employers have already R.S.V.P.’d to network with ϲ’s outstanding students, including Macy’s, PepsiCo, and Verizon Wireless. This event is open to all students.
iSchool Career Fair—Wednesday, Feb. 3, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., 304/Panasci Lounge, Schine
The iSchool Career Fair is for students exploring careers in information technologies. Currently, employers who plan on attending include Bloomberg, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, and Fidelity Investments. This event is open to all students.
Work that Matters: Service Employer Career Panel—Wednesday, Feb. 3, 5 – 6 p.m., 126 Lyman Hall
Students who are interested in working for nonprofit service organizations are encouraged to attend this event. Representatives from Teach for America, City Year, Peace Corps, and AmeriCorps will share their expertise on breaking into and finding success in nonprofit careers. This event is open to all students.
Boots to Briefcase: Student Veteran & Employer Networking Reception—Wednesday, Feb. 3, 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Goldstein Alumni & Faculty Center
This exciting networking event is hosted by the Office of Veteran and Military Affairs and Career Services, and will provide student veterans the opportunity to connect with employers seeking to recruit veterans. Employers include Quicken Loans, INFICON, and Sherwin-William Company. This event is open to student veterans only.
Networking Night for Economics Majors—Wednesday, Feb. 3, 6:30 – 8 p.m., 220 Eggers Hall
An opportunity for economics majors to network with employers. Employers attending include Macy’s, IBM, and EY. This event is open to economics majors only.
’Cuse Job &Internship Fair—Thursday, Feb. 4, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., 304/Panasci Lounge, Schine
This year’s ’Cuse Job & Internship Fair will host over 70 employers from diverse industries and job fields and will provide networking opportunities for students of all majors. The event is open to all students and will be sponsored by General Electric, Macy’s/Bloomingdale’s, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Norfolk Southern Corporation, New York Army National Guard, and IBM.
“Career week is a great opportunity for our students to learn about and connect with recruiters,” says Director of ϲ Career Services Mike Cahill. “We aim to serve all students by providing a range of opportunities they can explore. Events such as Career Week allow students to get a jump start on their careers while they are still in school.”
Leading up to the main events, Career Services will also be offering opportunities to help students navigate career events and network with potential employers.
Resume Critiques—Friday, Jan. 29, and Monday, Feb. 1, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., 235 Schine Students are encouraged to drop by for a quick resume critique, making them even more prepared for the coming career fairs. Drop-ins are first-come, first-served.
Susan Call, associate director of employer relations, agrees, adding, “’Cuse Career Week is a great way for students to explore and learn more about their respective fields, while also making valuable connections.”
