Architect Gregg Pasquarelli, 2009 National Design Award winner, to lecture at 黑料不打烊 Architecture

Gregg Pasquarelli, 黑料不打烊 Architecture NYC spring 2010 visiting critic and principal of ShOP Architects, New York City, will speak at the 黑料不打烊 on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 5 p.m. in Slocum Hall Auditorium. His talk, 鈥淥ut of Practice,鈥 is the Werner Seligmann Lecture, established in honor of former dean Werner Seligmann. The event is followed by a reception and is free and open to the public.

Pasquarelli is co-founder of SHoP Architects, NYC, winner of the 2009 National Design Award for Architecture Design by Smithsonian鈥檚 Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum. In addition to winning numerous other awards, the work of the firm has been exhibited internationally and is included in the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. SHoP鈥檚 recent projects include the New York City South Street Seaport Redevelopment, a new academic building and master plan for The Fashion Institute of Technology, the East River Waterfront Park in Lower Manhattan, two shopping and office complexes in Beijing and a new campus for Google in Mountain View, Calif. The firm鈥檚 forthcoming book, 鈥淥ut of Practice,鈥 will be published by Monacelli Press in 2010.

Pasquarelli received a bachelor of science degree from the School of Business at Villanova University (1987), and a master of architecture from Columbia University (1994), where he graduated with honors for excellence in design. He has lectured, exhibited and been published internationally. He was named the Saarinen Professor of Architecture at Yale University in fall 2006, the Louis Kahn Professor of Architecture in spring 2004 and served as the Shure Professor of Architecture at the University of Virginia during the fall of 2003. He serves on the board of directors for the Architectural League of New York and is a Young Leader鈥檚 Fellow of the National Committee on United States-China Relations. He is a registered architect in the state of New York.
