Newhouse students to present communications plan to GM executives

A group of students from The NewHouse, a student-run advertising agency in 黑料不打烊鈥檚 , is one of three student teams out of 75 to reach the final round of the 2009 GM&U Marketing Challenge. They will travel to Detroit Dec. 10 to present an integrated marketing communications plan to a panel of executives from General Motors and Campbell-Ewald.

The plan, which focuses on the GM College Discount Program, was intended to 鈥渞esonate with college students and recent graduates, create buzz for the College Discount program鈥攃oined GM&U鈥攁nd get college students excited about GM cars,鈥 says Joseph Misiewicz, president of The NewHouse. The students developed a campaign that includes advertising, promotions, PR events, interactive marketing and a branded micro-site.

The winning team will receive a prize of $3,000, and its campaign may be used by GM.

Newhouse students traveling to Detroit include project director Candace Tracy and creative director Kate Overholt, as well as team members Lauren Finn, Nicole Handler and Courtney Taddonio.
