Nancy Clark, internationally known sports nutritionist and nutrition author, to speak at SU Feb. 22

With a portfolio of clients that has included the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and Olympians from a variety of sports, Nancy Clark, sports nutritionist and nutrition author, will present “Nutrition for Performance: How to Fuel for School, Sports and Life,” on Monday, Feb. 22. The presentation, taking place in Grant Auditorium at 7 p.m., is free and open to the public. 

Clark is being brought to the University by the Nutrition Education and Promotion Association (N.E.P.A), a student organization in the College of Human Ecology’s .

Specializing in nutrition for exercise, health and the nutritional management of eating disorders, Clark is a nutrition columnist and is featured in New England Runner, Adventure Cycling and American Fitness . She is a frequent contributor to Runner’s World and is on the advisory board for SHAPE magazine. Clark also writes a monthly nutrition column called “The Athlete’s Kitchen,” which appears regularly in more than 100 sports and health publications, including Active.com and the Running Network.

Clark has written several best selling sports nutrition books including “Nancy Clark’s Sports Nutrition Guidebook” (Human Kinetics, 2008), “Food Guide for Marathoners: Tips for Everyday Champions” (Meyer & Meyer, 2007) and “Cyclist’s Food Guide: Fueling for the Distance” (Sports Nutrition Publishing, 2005), co-authored with Jenny Hegmann.

A fellow of the American Dietetic Association (ADA), Clark is the recipient of its Media Excellence Award, an active member of ADA’s practice group of sports nutritionists (SCAN), and recipient of SCAN’s Honor Award for excellence in practice. Clark is also a fellow in the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and recipient of the Honor Award from ACSM’s New England Chapter.

Clark studied nutrition at Simmons College in Boston, completed her dietetic internship at Massachusetts General Hospital, and holds a master’s degree in nutrition with a focus on exercise physiology from Boston University.

N.E.P.A is a student-run organization that actively promotes health and wellness on campus and in the community through education and activities that involve nutrition awareness. The organization is active in many local service projects and is currently working with local soup kitchens and community organizations.
