The HUB 2010 Spring Speaker Series at 黑料不打烊 will continue on Friday, Feb. 26, with Tony Zingale. The series is sponsored by The HUB鈥攁 unique university-industry collaboration founded by 黑料不打烊 and JPMorgan Chase.
Zingale聽will speak on his 鈥淛ourney to Silicon Valley and the Lessons Learned Along the Way鈥 at 3 p.m. in the Lundgren Room, Room 106 of the Life Sciences Complex. The event is free and open to the public.
Zingale will share his personal story and the lessons he learned along his journey from struggling as an electrical engineering student to searching for his passion to becoming a two-time CEO of very successful Silicon Valley-based public software companies. He will offer a number of compelling technology observations, as well as some predictions about what is to come in the future of technology.
Zingale has nearly 30 years of experience building profitable, high-growth information technology companies. He currently sits on the boards of McAfee Software; Coverity, a privately held software quality automation company; Jive Software, a privately held social business software company; and Service Source, a privately held managed services company.
He most recently served as president and CEO of Mercury Interactive, the worldwide leader of business technology optimization (BTO) solutions. Zingale successfully grew Mercury to more than $1 billion in annual sales and then engineered the $5 billion merger with Hewlett Packard in 2006.
Prior to Mercury, he was president and CEO of Clarify, a publicly traded enterprise software company that was a leader in the customer relationship management (CRM) market from 1997 until it was acquired by Nortel Networks in 2000. During his tenure, Clarify鈥檚 revenue grew more than 300 percent to more than $300 million. Following the acquisition, Zingale served as president of Nortel鈥檚 billion-dollar eBusiness Solutions Group until 2001. Previously, Zingale spent more than 10 years at Cadence Design Systems, the world’s leading supplier of electronic design automation (EDA) products and services, in a succession of executive management positions leading to his role as senior vice president of worldwide marketing. He served on the executive team that grew Cadence from about $40 million in revenue to more than $1.2 billion while also completing more that 15 mergers and acquisitions. Zingale began his career in product marketing at Intel Corp. in 1980.
Zingale holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in electrical and computer engineering and a bachelor鈥檚 degree in business administration from the University of Cincinnati.
