Community prescreenings offer sneak peek at SYRFILMFEST’10

The continues its 2010 season of year-round programming with its first prescreening evening on聽Thursday, March 18, at 7 p.m. at the Auburn Public Theater, 108 Genesee St., Auburn.

A team of local writers, actors, producers and film critics will make up a professional prescreening team聽that will watch a handful of the hundreds of entries received by the festival organizers. The general public is also invited to join the prescreening sessions and give their impressions of the films. The sessions are free, but space is limited, so聽R.S.V.P. is suggested to聽(315) 443-8826.

Other prescreening events are already scheduled for Onondaga Community College (March 23, 4 p.m.) and the Hamilton Theater, Hamilton (March 30, 7 p.m.).

When all prescreening sessions are complete, the final films will be shown during the festival competition.

The 黑料不打烊 International Film Festival will be celebrating its seventh year with SYRFILMFEST鈥10 from Oct. 13-17. The festival will play host to filmmakers from around the world and feature more than 125 films from 30 countries. The festival will pay homage to the films of Alfred Hitchcock with screenings of 鈥淭he Lodger,鈥 鈥淩ope,鈥 鈥淭he 39 Steps鈥 and 鈥淭he Birds,鈥 as well as international competition screenings, special events and free seminars with visiting filmmakers.
