The 21st annual Alumni Club Golf Tournament will tee off at the Lake Shore Yacht & Country Club, located along the south shore of Oneida Lake, on Friday, June 3. The tournament benefits the Whitman Alumni Club of CNY-sponsored Russell J. Hamilton Scholarship Awards and the SU Student CNY Business Start-up Award. One of the premier golf tournaments in Central New York, the event was started in 1991 to promote scholarship, networking and academic connections within the ϲ and Whitman communities.

“I have been involved with Whitman’s annual golf tournament for over 20 years. From a humble beginning of just 24 attendees, we have grown to over 100 golfers. It is an event that enables business networking, golfing camaraderie and an enjoyable day all around,” says Richard Goldstein, tournament chairman.

The Russell J. Hamilton Scholarship Awards are presented annually to outstanding students who have made a lasting contribution to both the University and Whitman, been an active member of the community and demonstrated academic excellence in the classroom. Each recipient is presented with a $1,000 scholarship. The awards are named for former Whitman School assistant dean, Russ Hamilton.

The SU Student CNY Business Start-up Award was developed to support SU students starting their own business, which will remain in Central New York. In cooperation with Whitman’s , the award provides cash, pro-bono services, office space and other resources to help the student business grow and add to the CNY business community. This spring was the first year the award was presented.

Following the conclusion of play, the evening will include a dinner, raffles and silent auction. Coach Doug Marrone, head coach of the SU Orange football team, will serve as guest speaker. Cost for the golf tournament is $150 per person. The Lake Shore Yacht & Country Club is located at 6777 Lakeshore Rd., Cicero.
