Newhouse panel to examine ‘unique voice’ of women’s websites

The Department of Magazine in 黑料不打烊鈥檚 will host 鈥淭he Digital Mystique: Women鈥檚 Editorial Online鈥 Monday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. in Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium in Newhouse 3. Follow on Twitter at #womensweb.

The panel discussion will explore the unique voice of women鈥檚 websites and why the content and tone of many women鈥檚 websites is so different than their print forebearers.

鈥淭he open spirit of the web made room for women seeking an alternative to traditional glossies,鈥 says Aileen Gallagher, assistant professor of multiplatform journalism in the Newhouse School. 鈥淥ur panel will explore that evolution with some of the Internet’s strongest voices.鈥

Gallagher will moderate. Panelists include Anna Holmes, founder of Jezebel; Jessica Coen, editor of Jezebel; Edith Zimmerman, founder/editor of The Hairpin; and Lori Adelman, writer for Feministing and The Grio.
