Four students in the recently attended the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) annual Global Conference in Philadelphia. The students joined more than 3,000 participants from more than 42 countries for facility tours, academic sessions, recruitment and luncheons. The conference focused on how supply chain management professionals are meeting challenges every day by finding creative solutions to problems. Whitman graduate student Priyanka Pawde, junior Jenna Eiding, senior Roz Amirfazli and junior Maria Saldarriaga took part in the program.
The trip gave the students an opportunity to learn about supply chain management from professionals and to see what companies are doing in a way that was hands-on. “It was great to be able to listen to professionals in the field talk about their experiences, challenges and successes,” says Eiding. Networking was another focus of the trip, as students met professionals from all areas of the field during luncheons and a student recruitment day.
“We are so pleased to be able to provide such a rewarding experience to a select group of supply chain majors,” says Gary La Point, assistant professor of supply chain practice. “The CSCMP national conference brings together supply chain professionals from around the world. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our students to network with industry professionals, to see and hear about the latest innovations and to be exposed to industry knowledge that cannot be found in academia. We gratefully appreciate the contributions from our benefactors that make this event possible.”
