Contemporary chamber ensemble California E.A.R. Unit to perform in Setnor Auditorium March 7

The , a chamber ensemble dedicated to the creation, performance and promotion of the music of our time, will give a performance on Wednesday, March 7, at 10 p.m. in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium, Crouse College. The concert is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the Irving Garage; parking for patrons with disabilities is available in the Q1 lot. Patrons should mention that they are attending the concert.

The E.A.R. Unit will perform new material, with electronic percussion, video, violin and piano. The ensemble is comprised of performers and composers who began with the goal of developing the first true repertory ensemble for new music in Los Angeles. Core players are Eric Clark on violin, Vicki Ray on piano and Amy Knoles on percussion.

In its 28-year history, the E.A.R. Unit has presented concerts of electro acoustic and live interactive computer music, music theater, dance and local and world premieres of more than 500 chamber works. The ensemble has earned critical acclaim, garnering awards for its contributions to the field of contemporary American music, including L.A. Weekly’s Best Classical Ensemble in 1999 and 2003 and the prestigious Letter of Distinction from the American Music Center in 1999.

The E.A.R. Unit has performed in many main venues, including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. The ensemble has toured throughout the world and was featured in documentaries for the BBC and Japanese television, American and National Public Radio, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., Danish National Radio and WGBH’s “Art of the States.” It has recorded for the Nonesuch, New Albion, New World, Tzadik, O.O. Discs, Bridge, Crystal and Cambria labels. Learn more at .
