Discovery Channel’s show Friday featured a segment on the SU Lava Project, organized by the sculpture program in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) in collaboration with the Department of Earth Sciences in The College of Arts and Sciences. The mix of science, art and education investigates creating basaltic lava flows in a controlled, outdoor laboratory environment. Robert Wysocki, VPA assistant professor in sculpture, spoke on the physical properties and aesthetics of the project.
