Due to high demand for tickets and in response to continued public interest in the “Common Ground for Peace” symposium featuring His Holiness the Dalai Lama, spiritual leader of Tibet, ���ϲ����� will now webcast the two panel discussions live on Monday, Oct. 8.

The symposium convenes international thought leaders and the SU campus in critical conversations about how to shift global consciousness toward matters of peace, and is a separate event from the public talk and One World Concert on Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the Carrier Dome.

Tickets are still required to attend each of the “Common Ground for Peace” sessions occurring on Monday, Oct. 8, in Goldstein Auditorium, Schine Student Center. Only ticketholders with tickets specifically issued for each session will be admitted. All tickets have been distributed and tickets are not interchangeable between sessions.

“The Rise of Democracy in the Middle East”

Moderated by NBC News national and international correspondent Ann Curry (left). Welcome by Founding Director of the SU Humanities Center Gregg Lambert. Remarks by SU Chancellor Nancy Cantor.

Panelists: His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama; Nobel Peace Laureate and Iranian human rights lawyer Shirin Ebadi; Nobel Peace Laureate and former director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency Mohamed ElBaradei; director of the Moral Courage Project at New York University’s School of Public Service Irshad Manji; energy and national security specialist and former Director of Central Intelligence R. James Woolsey; and former U.N. ambassador Andrew Young.

Panelists: His Holiness the Dalai Lama; human rights advocate Martin Luther King III; Nobel Peace Laureate and Iranian human rights lawyer Shirin Ebadi; Nobel Peace Laureate and former director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency Mohamed ElBaradei; Academy Award winning composer, UN Ambassador and philanthropist A.R. Rahman; and Iranian-American journalist Roxana Saberi.

The University will continue to offer the previously announced on-campus viewing locations. Rooms will be open during the sessions (9-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-4 p.m.) but will close once capacity is reached. Viewing locations include:
