Deadline to submit MLK Unsung Heroes nominations extended to Oct. 15

The deadline to submit nominations for the 黑料不打烊 Martin Luther King Jr. 2013 Unsung Heroes Awards has been extended to Monday, Oct. 15.

The awards will be presented during the annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration in the Carrier Dome on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013.

The awards are given annually to people who, in the spirit of King鈥檚 鈥渂eloved community,鈥 have made a positive difference in the lives of others, but who are not widely recognized for their efforts.

Nominations may be made in any of the following categories:聽

  • Youth/Teen from Onondaga County or the immediate surrounding counties;
  • Adult from Onondaga County or the immediate surrounding counties;
  • Student at SU or SUNY-ESF; and
  • Faculty or staff from SU or SUNY-ESF.聽

Past recipients have been recognized for their work to advance human rights, nonviolence, diversity and nondiscrimination; promote youth; advocate for peace and justice; build bridges between diverse communities; and provide opportunities for people living on the margins of society.

Nominations may be submitted online or in person to the Hendricks Chapel Dean鈥檚 Office.
