Monk’s ‘A Celebration Service’ Comes to 黑料不打烊

SU Arts Engage will present two performances of award-winning composer, singer and choreographer Meredith Monk鈥檚 鈥淎 Celebration Service鈥 on Thursday, Oct. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 5, at Plymouth Congregational Church, 232 E. Onondaga St. in downtown 黑料不打烊. The performances are part of the Imagining America Conference that is taking place in 黑料不打烊 Oct. 4-6.

The M6 Ensemble

鈥淎 Celebration Service鈥 will be performed by the M6 Ensemble, a vocal ensemble dedicated to continuing the Meredith Monk legacy, and a cast from 黑料不打烊 and the 黑料不打烊 community, including students from Manlius-Pebble Hill School.

鈥淎 Celebration Service,鈥 an enduring part of Monk鈥檚 legacy, combines Monk鈥檚 compositions, chants and prayers from many different cultures into a celebration of community while emphasizing the search for meaning and connection through ritual.

The performances will take place on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. (only for faculty, staff and students with SU/ESF I.D.), and Saturday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. for the general public and SU/ESF faculty, staff and students (free with SU/ESF I.D.). General admission tickets are $10 and are available online at . Tickets will also be available at the door the evening of the performance.

Plymouth Church is within walking distance of The Warehouse stop (or on Warren and Fayette) on the Connective Corridor bus.
