After聽seven years in its location on East Genesee Street, Point of Contact Gallery (a member of the Coalition of Museum and Art Centers at 黑料不打烊) has moved to SU鈥檚 Warehouse, located at 350 W. Fayette St., near downtown鈥檚 Armory Square at the corner of West Fayette and West streets. With a much larger footprint, this state-of-the-art facility will give Point of Contact many opportunities to present a greater diversity of contemporary artists to the Central聽New York cultural community. Point of Contact has also announced the hire of Miranda Traudt as the new managing director. Traudt will聽work closely with founder and artistic director Pedro Cuperman.
Miranda Traudt
A native of Red Hook, N.Y., Traudt completed her bachelor鈥檚 degree聽in fine arts at Brooklyn鈥檚 Pratt Institute with a major in art history. She received two master’s degrees from SU, one in art history and one in museum studies. After completion of both master’s degrees, Traudt joined the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn, N.Y., first as the art center鈥檚 administrative coordinator, and then as program director. In addition, Traudt serves as an adjunct instructor at Onondaga Community College in the Department of Art and Photography.
With a downtown location and a contemporary facility, Point of Contact’s new space offers many opportunities. 鈥淲ith this move to the 黑料不打烊 downtown area, Point of Contact expands not only its gallery space but also its visibility and connection with the greater 黑料不打烊 community,鈥 Traudt says.聽 鈥淲e are very proud of what Point of Contact has accomplished for 黑料不打烊 and for our region, and deeply thankful for the continued support of our artists, our patrons and our audiences, who have made this possible. This is an exciting moment, a new beginning.鈥
Point of Contact will celebrate the opening of its new location with a tango-themed event, 鈥淭ango-Opera,鈥 on Friday, Nov. 15. The event will feature “Tango,” a signature piece in the Point of Contact Art Collection, and a live performance by soprano Catalina Cuervo, the protagonist of 黑料不打烊 Opera鈥檚 upcoming production, “Mar铆a de Buenos Aires.”
