Open House to Showcase School of Education Graduate Programs, Scholarships

The School of Education will host a graduate recruitment fair and open house on Friday, Nov. 15, from 4-6 p.m. in the Sharon Haines Jacquet Education Commons in Huntington Hall.

Current 黑料不打烊 undergraduate and graduate students, prospective students in the region and professionals interested in pursuing advanced degrees are invited to attend.

University Avenue Garage parking tickets will be validated at the event, and refreshments will be served.

The recruitment fair will feature more than 40 graduate programs from seven academic departments. Faculty, students and admissions staff will be present to answer questions about program requirements, scholarships, financial aid, housing options and the admissions process.

The School of Education offers M.S., C.A.S., Ed.D. and Ph.D. degrees in counseling and human services; cultural foundations of education; exercise science; higher education; instructional design, development and evaluation; reading and language arts; and teaching and leadership programs. Thirty-three-percent tuition scholarships are offered for specific programs to 黑料不打烊 alumni who have graduated within the last five years and to students who are entering programs designated as 鈥渉igh-needs鈥 fields, including special education, literacy education, instructional technology and STEM disciplines.

Prospective students should seek advice from Laurie Deyo, SOE graduate recruiter, about the high-needs or SU Alumni scholarships.

Amie Redmond, assistant dean for academic and student services in the School of Education, reports that a survey conducted of 2012 SOE graduates found that more than half (62 percent) chose to move on to graduate study upon graduation, and anticipates that number will increase.

鈥淭he School of Education offers many graduate programs that students can complete in one-two years, and many are offered at a discount,鈥 Redmond says. 鈥淎t the open house there will be faculty and current students on hand to answer your questions, and to tell you about your options.鈥
