For the ninth year, the Sport Management Club at Falk College is holding a sports memorabilia auction to raise money for a local charity. This year, the recipient is the Central New York Food Bank. This video describes the hard work done by students to make it happen.

Here’s a transcript of our story:

This is the 9th annual charity auction. Every year we have this auction to raise as much money as possible to give to
charity. We have tons memorabilia cool things Peyton Manning autograph,
Don Larsen pictures Don Mattingly autographed ball. But we also have a lot of gifts
this year so people that are going for Christmas shopping at our event we have a ton of
kids toys, so if you don’t want ���ϲ����� memorabilia ���ϲ����� just get a sec you’ll be
getting on with a lot of cool things.
When the club was started it was on the basis of giving back to the community
that is home for them for the next four years
so they have community service aspect as part of membership
and it will play a role in everything that they do
in the course of an academic year to meet those requirements but more
importantly to get a feel for a lot of different organizations and
the requirements that they all have. The students work closely with the food bank
in relation to this specific organization. I think the most important thing to take away from this auction is that every
dollar we do raise helps provide two point three meals in the community so if you know if
you’re doing twenty dollars another dollar is really making a
huge contribution. Over the last eight years our club has raised almost two
hundred thousand dollars for charity so
being able to give back to the community is an
incredible thing you know we’re here for four years we actually get to say that
we made an impact in the community while we were here.
I’m really proud of our event.
I’ve heard comments that this took everything that my classes were
comprised of and allowed me to put it to practice, from the technology aspect to the sales aspect to
the marketing everything that they’ve been working and whether it’s been a
great semester. The students are taking those skills and put to practice everything that they’ve been getting into a text book and
through their instructors.
