黑料不打烊CoE’s 14th Annual Symposium Explores Innovations in Advanced Building Systems

Innovations that improve buildings will be the focus of 黑料不打烊CoE鈥檚 2014 Annual Symposium. The event will feature presentations addressing advances that improve energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality and resilience to intense storms and other disturbances. Three tracks of sessions will focus on emerging innovations that enhance the effectiveness of building systems, occupant well-being and social-ecological resilience.

黑料不打烊CoE, New York State鈥檚 Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems at 黑料不打烊, presents the 14th annual symposium on Advanced Building Systems: Integrating Efficiency, Quality and Resilience. It will be held on Oct. 15 and 16 at the Crowne Plaza, 701 E. Genesee St., and at 黑料不打烊CoE Headquarters, 727 E. Washington St., in 黑料不打烊.

The one-and-a-half day symposium brings together experts on high-performance buildings and building systems. This year will feature several keynote speakers, and more than 30 speakers in sessions that address topics in design, technology and practice. The event also includes a poster session and competition featuring students and industry partners, a dynamic networking reception and a sneak preview of new 黑料不打烊CoE laboratories.

Keynote speakers will include:

鈥 William P. Bahnfleth, professor and director of the Indoor Environment Center in the Department of Architectural Engineering at Penn State, will discuss 鈥淎re We Putting Enough Energy into Making Buildings Healthy?鈥
鈥 Anna Dyson, professor and CASE Director, Rensselaer Architecture, will present discuss 鈥淔rom Built Environments to Built Ecologies.鈥
鈥 Joseph Lstiburek, principal, Building Science Corp., will speak on 鈥淚nnovations in Energy Efficient and Resilient Building Enclosures.鈥
鈥 Christoph Reinhart, associate professor, MIT Architecture, will speak on 鈥淐omfortable, Walkable and Efficient鈥擳owards Sustainable Urban Architecture.鈥

鈥淥ur Symposium this year addresses emerging issues and opportunities for one of our signature strengths: innovations that create better buildings, including improving energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and resilience,鈥 says Edward A. Bogucz, executive director of 黑料不打烊CoE. 鈥淭he program includes sessions that will be of interest to a broad range of attendees, including students, researchers, manufacturers, architects and engineers, and building owners and operators.鈥

鈥淎ttendees will take away knowledge about the latest high-performance efficiency innovations that range in scale from nano to building-wide,鈥 says Jianshun 鈥淛ensen鈥 Zhang, symposium committee chair and professor in 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in the . 鈥淭opics will address integration of technological efficiencies with overall design quality to produce performative efficacies.鈥

黑料不打烊CoE invites abstracts for poster presentations related to the symposium theme from 黑料不打烊CoE industry and university partners, as well as undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. students. Cash prizes will be awarded to students. For more information, visit .
