“Fictions, As Usual: Recent Works by Ilyn Wong” is on exhibit in the J & J Smith Gallery on the first floor of Smith Hall.
The Department of Foundation in the is presenting “Fictions, As Usual: Recent Works by Ilyn Wong,” through Friday, Oct. 17, in the J & J Smith Gallery, located on the first floor of Smith Hall. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Wong is a former Department of Foundation faculty member. Her work aims to locate an intersection between history, memory and fiction using a variety of media, including drawing, painting, collage, writing, sculpture and performance.
Her recent projects draw from personal and family histories that are embedded within larger historical accounts. These works are situated in a space in which research and conceptual rigor co-exist with personal and emotive impulses–where the tongue-in-cheek is also utterly sincere.
