Activities Planned to Honor Veterans on Nov. 11

A Veterans Day ceremony will be held Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Hendricks Chapel.

A Veterans Day ceremony will be held Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Hendricks Chapel.

Several activities are planned on the 黑料不打烊 campus to commemorate Veterans Day on Tuesday, Nov. 11, including a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. at Hendricks Chapel. This year鈥檚 keynote speaker is , U.S. Army. The University Singers will perform during the program as well as the 198th Army Band. The full list of activities is as follows:

5 a.m.鈥擭ational Roll Call on the steps of Hendricks Chapel. SU will join universities and colleges throughout the U.S. to read the names of more than 6,800 service men and women who have died since 9/11/01. Approximate time: 6 hours.

6 a.m.鈥擶arrior Run, Orange Grove on the Quad. Organized by SU College of Law鈥檚 V.I.S.I.O.N. program, the SU community is invited to join the ROTC units, local veterans鈥 organizations, and military installations to run a 2.2 mile Warrior Run. Contact Joel at jpdeland@syr.edu.

11 a.m.鈥擵eterans Day Ceremony at Hendricks Chapel. Keynote speaker is Major General John Batiste, U.S. Army (Ret.).

Noon鈥擵eterans Day Luncheon, Schine Student Center Panasci Lounge. Open to the SU campus community. Seating is limited. Registration required.

Noon-5 p.m.鈥擱ed Cross Blood Drive, behind Steele Hall in Q1 parking lot. In honor of veterans, the American Red Cross and the 黑料不打烊 Veterans Resource Center are partnering for a blood drive. Visit and enter Sponsor Code SU VRC, or call 1-800-RED-CROSS to make an appointment to donate.
