The will honor Theodore Spall, Jr., ’69, with the Jonathan J. Holtz Alumnus of the Year Award at a ceremony on Wednesday, April 29, at 3 p.m. in Whitman’s Lender Auditorium. The Jonathan J. Holtz Alumnus of the Year Award is the highest honor given to graduates of the Whitman School. Established in 1986 by Jonathan J. Holtz ’78 BS, the award recognizes an outstanding alumnus each year for his or her professional accomplishments and service to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ.
Theodore Spall
Spall is a real estate developer in the Rochester, N.Y., area. He began working with this father in eighth grade and, while attending ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, obtained his real estate license. At age 21, he was the youngest real estate broker at the time in New York State. After graduation he joined his family business, Spall Realty Corp., and in 1971, became its president. He has since shepherded the company through significant growth.
Recognizing the value of his Whitman degree in preparing him to lead the family business, Spall and his wife, Suzanne, established two undergraduate scholarships at Whitman to help others receive the same career preparation. One scholarship is earmarked for a graduate of Bishop Kearney High School in Rochester, and the other is designated for a disabled veteran.
At the ceremony Michael Gursha, ’10 will also be honored as Whitman Young Alumnus of the Year, and the Dean’s Citation for Exceptional Service will be presented to Bruce Evans. Members of Whitman’s faculty and staff also will receive honors.
A reception will follow in the Milton Room on the fourth floor of the Whitman School.
