The Division of Student Affairs has named Missy Mathis-Hanlon as the interim director of the Parents Office. Mathis-Hanlon’s appointment follows the previous director Colleen Bench’s appointment as associate vice president of Student Affairs.

In this interim role, Mathis-Hanlon will serve as the primary liaison between parents and the University, responding to their concerns and emergencies. She will plan and implement parent activities for ϲ Welcome and Family Weekend and she will oversee the communications to/from parents and family members—both print and on-line.
“Missy brings great experience and knowledge of this important constituency,” says Bench. “Missy has been a vital staff member to the Parents Office and I am pleased she will be able to continue her great work with parents and families in this new capacity.”
Mathis-Hanlon joined the Parents Office in 2001, following five years as the assistant to the senior vice president and dean of Student Affairs. Prior to this appointment, Mathis-Hanlon served as the associate director for the Parents Office.
A native of Binghamton, N.Y., Mathis-Hanlon earned a master’s degree in higher education from ϲ and a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology from Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y. Mathis-Hanlon is also a 2006 graduate of the Leadership Greater ϲ program.
