The (CASE) has been notified that it has been re-designated as a New York State Center for Advanced Technology. The award, $921,000 a year renewable for up to 10 years, was announced by Empire State Development (ESD), New York State’s economic development agency.
According to Howard Zemsky, president and CEO of ESD, CASE’s proposal was among the best in a very competitive field. The Centers for Advanced Technology support university-industry collaborative research and technology transfer to accelerate growth in the New York State economy.
“We are looking forward to partnering with CASE to assist with job creation through the development and commercialization of technologies in New York,” says Zemsky.
CASE serves as a portal, connecting the faculty and students of the University to the New York business community. CASE faculty and students work with industry partners to turn raw data into useable knowledge, creating tools and delivering insights that capitalize on the vast quantities of digital information flooding the marketplace.

I am extremely glad that CASE will be around for another 10 years and hopefully much longer.”

The center not only has generated hundreds of new jobs for the region; it has created incredible applied research, internship and networking opportunities for our students and faculty. CASE is New York State’s premier applied research center for interdisciplinary expertise in complex information intensive systems, including “big data” analytics, predictive analysis, information fusion, computational intelligence, wireless communications and networks, cybersecurity and data/network assurance. Since 1999, CASE has helped create 680 new jobs, helped to retain more than 250 jobs threatened in New York State and has helped generate an economic impact of more than $475 million dollars, including $320 million in new revenue created by CASE industry projects, according to data certified by New York State Division of Science, Technology, and Innovation (NYSTAR).
