Student Affairs Seeks Additional Members for Student Advisory Board

Last year, the Division of Student Affairs announced the formation of the Student Affairs Advisory Board, a group of students who serve as part of a volunteer council to Senior Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs Rebecca Reed Kantrowitz. The advisory board members provide insight, advice and suggestions to Student Affairs on issues related to student life and the student experience on campus. Topics covered last year included communications, student conduct, mental health, student organization registration processes, health insurance and more. Student Affairs is currently accepting applications for the 2015-16 Student Affairs Advisory Board.

DSA“The advisory board was a great success last year,” says Kantrowitz. “As we move out of the pilot year and solidify another year of membership, we look forward to adding new members and perspectives to the board.”

The advisory board will include approximately 25 undergraduate, graduate and law students, from all years and majors. Students are not required to have prior knowledge of Student Affairs, but it is recommended they have an interest in the areas that fall under Student Affairs.

Students interested in applying for the Student Affairs Advisory Board are asked to submit a cover letter and resume to studentaffairs@syr.edu by Sunday, Oct. 25. Meetings occur on select Fridays from noon-1:30 p.m., so applicants should be available during that time.
