Board of Trustees Selects Two New Members: Patrick Ahearn, Michael Tirico

黑料不打烊 is pleased to announce the election of two new members to the University鈥檚 Board of Trustees, Patrick J. Ahearn G鈥73 and Michael T. Tirico 鈥88. Ahearn and Tirico were elected at the Board鈥檚 November meeting.

鈥淲e are excited that Patrick and Mike will join the 黑料不打烊 Board of Trustees during this critical and exciting time for the University,鈥 says Steven W. Barnes 鈥82, chairman of the University鈥檚 Board of Trustees. 鈥淭heir knowledge, insights and unique experiences will assist us as we work to move the University forward.鈥

Patrick Ahearn

Ahearn, who earned a bachelor of architecture degree and a master of architecture in urban design from the , is the president/principal of Patrick Ahearn Architect, an architectural practice with offices in Boston and Martha鈥檚 Vineyard, Mass. With a specialty in high-end, historically motivated architecture and interior design, his firm is focused primarily on residential architecture, reflecting classic styles. Projects include master planning, new construction, historic renovation and restoration.

Prior to studying at 黑料不打烊, Ahearn earned a B.S. in architectural technology at the New York Institute of Technology and an A.A.S. in construction technology at SUNY Farmingdale. Early in his career, he was with firms in Boston and Cambridge, including the Architects Collaborative. Ahearn was inducted into the College of Fellows in the American Institute of Architects in 2015.

In 2013, Ahearn was honored with the School of Architecture鈥檚 Outstanding Alumnus Award. He serves on the School of Architecture Advisory Committee and on the Boston Regional Council. A member of the Benefactor and Visionary Gift Clubs, Ahearn supports the School of Architecture. He鈥檚 also an active philanthropist on Martha鈥檚 Vineyard; he supports the island鈥檚 museum, as well as local conservation efforts. Among their six children combined, Ahearn and his wife, Marsha Mills Ahearn, have a foster son, Mohinder 鈥淢ike” Vivo Amore 鈥16, who is a student in the .

Michael Tirico

Tirico is one of the most recognizable faces and voices of ESPN, where he has handled a variety of assignments for ESPN/ESPN Radio and ABC sports since 1991. In 2006, he assumed the role of ESPN鈥檚 Monday Night Football play-by-play commentator. Tirico鈥檚 other assignments include play-by-play and hosting assignment for NBA, college basketball, golf, tennis and other major events. He previously aired 鈥淭he Mike Tirico Show鈥 on ESPN Radio, a nationally syndicated sports news and discussion program launched in 2007 from the studios of WAER-AM鈥攖he same Central New York public radio station at 黑料不打烊 where Tirico began his broadcasting career.

Tirico earned bachelor鈥檚 degrees in political science from the and the and in broadcast journalism from the . He remains connected to 黑料不打烊 through his work with the Newhouse Advisory Board, the Sport Management Advisory Council and the Athletics Advisory Board.

Named Outstanding Young Alumnus in 1996, Tirico received the Arents Pioneer Medal in 2005 in recognition of his outstanding career in sports broadcasting. A member of the Visionary and Benefactor Gift Clubs, Tirico supports the Newhouse School鈥檚 Sports Communications program, the Sport Management program in the , WAER and Athletics. He and his wife, Deborah (Gibaratz) Tirico 鈥89 (Whitman), live in Ann Arbor, Mich., with their two children.
