Ever feel like you’re the only one interested in sustainability on campus?

Want to promote your student organization?

Want to share your research or coursework?

Want to show business and public officials what ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ students have to say about climate change and clean energy?

Tuesday, April 5:

6 p.m. Sketchbook Dialog | The Warehouse : 4th floor

7:30 p.m. NY Power Dialog presentation | The Warehouse : 1st floor auditorium

Come network with others from the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ campus, the community and the energy industry at an event celebrating the wide range of student work on climate change and clean energy. The casual reception-style Sketchbook Dialog focuses on course assignments, especially current in-progress work, since 1) this is the vast majority of work students do, but 2) it’s almost always invisible to anyone outside the class.

What’s a Sketchbook Dialog?

An informal networking reception based around students discussing work in progress using their digital devices (tablet, laptop, even smart phone). No public speaking, no presentations to sit through, just talking to people about your work and their work in a casual friendly atmosphere.

This event is part of a larger national dialog surrounding the Clean Power Plan and state-level actions to help meet U.S. Climate commitments. At 7:30 p.m., Richard Kauffman, chairman of energy and finance for New York State and member of the governor’s executive cabinet; and Jared Snyder, deputy commissioner for the Office of Air Resources, Climate Change and Energy at the Department of Environmental Conservation, will give presentations and engage in dialog with students which will be available via webcast in the First floor Auditorium, The Warehouse.

Who will be there?

Students and faculty from across the university AND public officials (state and local) AND business people from architecture, design and energy: a dynamic interdisciplinary town-gown mix. People will be arriving for the webcast of Kauffman and Snyder’s NY Power Dialog presentation after the Sketchbook Dialog, so we’ll get more than the usual campus crowd. The core of the Sketchbook Dialog will be architecture students sharing in-progress Energy in the Landscape design projects as part of Studio|Next: Building the Post-Carbon city, but we’re inviting students from all departments, all majors. We’d like to show that student interest and relevant work about climate change and clean energy isn’t confined to just one part of the university.

What do I need to do to participate?

Show up prepared for a wealth of ideas from bright young minds, and expect to field lots of questions about your own work, from your device. This event is free and open to the public. Food will be provided.
