Three students were named winners of the White-Denison Presentational Speaking Competition on April 21. The competition was sponsored by the Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies (CRS) in the .

Christopher DiMaria ’16, a broadcast and digital journalism major in the , won the $500 Grand Prize for the senior who has exhibited the greatest achievement in public speaking. Dana Lussier ’18, an advertising major in Newhouse, won the $350 Champion prize for the student (non-senior) who has exhibited the greatest achievement in public speaking. Fatmawati Tuyulawe ’18, a forensic science major in the , won the $200 Exceptional Speaker prize for the student (any class) who has achieved exceptional success in public speaking.
A total of ten students from five ϲ schools and colleges competed. The competition’s judges were David E. Peebles, U.S. magistrate judge for the Northern District of New York; Kathyrn Howe Ruscitto, president and chief executive officer of St. Joseph’s Health; Amos Kiewe, professor of CRS, Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies; and Karen Harrison, associate professor of communication, Onondaga Community College.
