Newhouse Announces Winners in 10th annual Mirror Awards Competition

Winners in the 10th annual competition honoring excellence in media industry reporting were announced at a ceremony in New York City, hosted by the . CBS News correspondent Jeff Glor ’97 emceed the event.

Best Single Article—Traditional/Legacy Media:
Peter Elkind, “” (PDF)—Fortune

Best Single Article—Digital Media:
Celeste LeCompte, “”—Nieman Reports

Best Single Story—Radio, Television, Cable or Online Broadcast Media:
Matthew Billy, “”—Between the Liner Notes

Best Profile:
Taffy Brodesser-Akner, “ŨĔG

Best Commentary:
Frank Rich, “”—New York magazine

John M. Higgins Award for Best In-Depth/Enterprise Reporting:
Jonathan Mahler, “”—The New York Times Magazine

In addition, the Newhouse School honored Turner president David Levy ’84 with the Fred Dressler Leadership Award and Emblematic Group CEO Nonny de la Peña with the i-3 award for impact, innovation and influence. Levy’s award was presented by Marv Albert ’63, sportscaster with TNT and CBS, while de la Peña’s award was presented by Christine Cattano, executive producer at Framestore VR Studio.

Luncheon co-chairs were Nomi Miron Bergman, president of Bright House Networks LLC; David Watson, executive vice president and COO of Comcast Cable; and Dana Zimmer ’92, president of distribution for Tribune Media.

The Mirror Awards are the most important awards for recognizing excellence in media industry reporting. Established by the Newhouse School in 2006, the awards honor the reporters, editors and teams of writers who hold a mirror to their own industry for the public’s benefit.
